Meet and Greet with Wayne Benjamin, DASNY
On August 7th, 2019, The National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) Tri-State chapter hosted its monthly business networking event at Mezquite Restaurant, located in Astoria, Queens. These events are designed to create matchmaking opportunities between NAMC members, Agencies, and the Construction industry. Construction is a relationship driven business - so this platform is designed for NAMC member to meet and greet both public and private entities to build a long-term relationship. Chapter President, Mr. Nayan Parikh urged everyone in attendance to join the organization and stressed the importance of networking. On behalf of the organization, we send a special thank you to all the speakers and attendees. Board Member and Gala Chair, Mr. Abner Larrieux spoke about the Unity in Diversity Awards Ceremony Gala set for Friday, October 18, 2019 where NAMC will be honoring both public/private sector construction industry partners that have demonstrated innovative and creative strategies to remove barriers for under-represented groups; that support women, the disadvantaged and small businesses and allowed for increased public and private construction contract opportunities. Key invited guests included NAMC Advisory Board Members, Members of the NAMC Board of Directors, NYS Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte, Former Senator Ruth- Hassell-Thompson, and STV, Inc. Project Executives. The event was co-hosted by The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York where attendees heard from Wayne Benjamin, Chief, Job Order Contracting and Assistant Director of Opportunity Programs Group who provided a detailed report about the procurement opportunities available through the agency. Charles Croskey, MWBE Business Dev. & Outreach Coordinator and Dennis Williams, Program Analyst provided additional representation from DASNY. Several topics were discussed including Mega Project Construction opportunities with DASNY, NYS Article-15 A extension, Small Business Capacity Building Program and NAMC’s Unity in Diversity upcoming gala on 10/18/2019 at the Grand Hyatt. |

NAMC 50th Anniversary National Conference
The NAMC 50th National Conference will be held June 12 – 14, 2019 at the Pullman San Francisco Bay Hotel, Redwood City, California. The Conference offers entrepreneurs in all sectors of the construction and construction support industries, the federal government and corporations, the opportunity to cultivate new relationships and expand their national presence through two and half days of engaging and relevant educational and networking events. The event culminates in a black tie Hall of Fame Gala & Awards Ceremony to recognize outstanding achievements by NAMC members. |
